Students Struggling in the In-Between Spaces of Beleghata & Chingrighata As a student of NIFT Kolkata, I feel it’s important to highlight the everyday struggles faced by students living and studying in the in-between areas of Beleghata and Chingrighata . These places sit awkwardly between city life and village life — and because of that, students don’t really get the advantages of either. This gap shows up strongly in our daily lives: There is no proper park or green space within walking distance. After long hours of classes, there is nowhere to relax. The highway running just behind the campus fills the air with traffic fumes, especially at night. There are no proper stationery stores or shops nearby where we can buy the essentials we need for our studies. Most importantly, there is no safe or calm space where students can release the mental fatigue that comes from continuous academic pressure. Sometimes, it honestly feels like we are living in slum-like condition...
